Tools and Hardware Reviews of D-Con 00027 Ultra Set Covered Snap Mouse TrapCustomer Review: Like a Silent Cat.. without the Litter Box & Cat-care... Summary: 5 Stars
I dont normally leave feedback, but for this I felt I HAD to.
#1. I am very squeamish, and I nauseate easily.
#2. I have a conscience about killing.
#3. I was being stalked & harassed at night by rambunctious rodents dancing thru my things.
I'm in NYC and lets face it, we have some tough vermin out here. I had some mice disrespecting me. They stopped waiting until I went to sleep and they would run amok while I was trying to work, passing by, trying to eat and goodness forbid if I ever tried to sleep. It was awful. They would dance & rummage. One night I was nearly in tears from being stalked all week unable to sleep. Disgusted by what was going on in the dark I started sleeping with the lights on, and then they stopped caring about the lights.
I was looking for rat poison to put down when I came across this trap. First of all I thought it was like those roach motels; One time use. I read the reviews & they were pretty positive, and I read this could be used more than once, but I didnt believe. I ordered one. ANd I am writing this review Two days and THREE dead mice later!:
1. The mouse trap is re-usable
2. You NEVER touch the mouse (there is a release in the back, slide it up & the critter falls into the trash)
3. You dont lose your bait bcz there is a small food cup on the inside which holds it even when you turn the trap perpendicular to expel your rodent
4. Mice are naturally incline to burrow so the box design works well because they eagerly enter small dark cubbyholes.
5. No mouse is too small to get caught. It was designed for mice and the clap on the inside seems to catch them right on a part of the body which snuffs them out quickly.
6. Once locked the clap does not false snap from being shaken or knocked
I caught my first mouse within the first hour of putting down the trap. I've read mice are attracted to peanut butter. Well they are also intensely attracted to cocoa butter. I put a chunk in the hole, pulled the lever and set the trap. The clap does not false-snap when shaken or set. I laid it early in the evening so I wouldnt forget at night. Within an hour I heard a loud "FFWWWAAAPPP!!" I'd never heard this sound before and quickly realized my trap produced results, but then what to do? I didnt want to touch the mouse and thought I would need to throw the whole device away. To my surprise while hovering it over the trash, an easy depressing of the lever releases the rodent and dispelled him/her thru the opening and it tumbled out into the bin. Because the food was in a cup, it did not fall into the trash and I was able to use it again that night to catch mouse #2. When I was sleeping I didnt hear the 'fwap.' Nor did I last night when I caught mouse #3. Mouse #3 was tiny and STILL it was laid to rest just the same.
I am very happy with this trap and will buy many more. I've realized from being awake and hearing the clap that mice are VERY quiet, and they could be around in places that we don't know they are. So I'm going to safeguard and put these anywhere. You don't have to bother with them... they're Like a Silent Cat.. without the Litter Box & all the Cat-care... WHen you're passing by a trap if you see a little tail sticking out, you've caught one.
1. Hold over trash
2. Press release lever
3. (Bait is still in place)
4. Press, set, & Repeat
ONE MILLION STARS! This IS the Better Mousetrap!! They've finally done it!
