Tools and Hardware Reviews of D-Con 00027 Ultra Set Covered Snap Mouse TrapCustomer Review: didn't even know mouse was in my house but d-con killed it! Summary: 5 Stars
i bought this mousetrap about 5 months ago when there was a mouse driving me & my wife crazy at home.it was nibbling through our food, and taunting us (in our minds. after turning the house upside down, sealing holes with steel wool and setting traps, the mouse just disappeared. after that we were at ease. today we noticed some small droppings where we patched some holes previously. i decided i would check the traps.the lever was down on the d-con ultra set and therefore the mouse's neck was snapped dead! its tail and paw were visibly limp as well. the trap had baited with p.b. months before yet still worked. i easily removed the carcas ( i chose to toss the whole trap with mouse). and will proceed to order more of these just in case. thanx d-con, this trap really works.
Customer Review: TOTAL waste of money. Nothing like the original. Summary: 1 Stars
I guess this is a lesson learned in why you always stick with the classics.
We bought 3 of these traps and none of them would stay set properly. We'd set them, put them down (as gently as humanly possible) and they'd pop. At first 2 of the 3 wouldn't stay latched when the arm was pushed down, then it got to be all of them. We tried and tried. We tried pushing them down gently, then forcefully. We tried setting them upside down, right side up, anything we could think of. The little latching mechanism just would not latch. It was infuriating to have wasted money on something that just flat out did not work.
3 traps, all in the garbage. Never even had a chance to see if they'd work past the setup stage. Grr.
Bummer.
Customer Review: Best trap in existence, but... Summary: 4 Stars
This trap is the only trap that outsmarts the mice every time. I've tried over a dozen different models, from live catch to quick kill, and only two work reliably -- this one, and the Kness Tip-Trap. The main downside to the Tip-Trap is that smart mice can figure it out and avoid it altogether -- they know something's up. The d-Con fools even the guys who can lick a metal trap clean without trigger.
The only downside is that they're reusable only 2-3 times. After that, the very sensitive sensor (which is why its so effective) can't be reset, and you have to throw it out. For the price, it's still a deal, but please don't expect them to work more than 2-3 times before needing replacement. (I'm on my third in just under a year.)
Customer Review: One GREAT; One a DUD Summary: 2 Stars
I bought two traps. One has worked very well and I am very pleased; the other one broke on the second use. The plastic pin that holds the spring in the "set" position broke and I had no alternative but to throw the entire trap away. I was very disappointed because I bought the product after reading the rave reviews on-line. The "plastic entry door" is cute, but I leave it open, the better to encourage the mouse toward the bait. This morning's catch was needlessly cruel--for the mouse. For some reason the spring did not catch him/her on the back/neck, but rather by the feet/tail. The poor creature had gnawed through the plastic covering in a vain attempt to get free and ultimately died from the d-Con poison that I had used for bait.
Customer Review: Best We've Tried Yet Summary: 5 Stars
We live on a large lot that borders a freeway. Some years we have trouble with mice in the fall and no longer have any cats. We used glue traps for years. Although they work fairly well, you still have to actually kill the mouse once it's trapped.
We won't use poisons for several reasons and don't want to use the old fashioned, open snap traps because they present a danger to our small dog and us.
I ordered two of these traps, which arrived quickly. One of them was defective, but the other has proven to be very efficient. I wish we didn't need it at all, but it works very well and is reusable.
You can dispose of the already dead mouse without ever having to touch it and easily reset the trap.
