Tools and Hardware Reviews of Neiko Super-Bright 9 LED Heavy-Duty Compact Aluminum Flashlight - Gunmetal SilverCustomer Review: Warning Summary: 4 Stars
The flashlight seems flimsy but is working for now, and it puts out a lot of light. However, I found a rather alarming warning message printed on the back of the blister-pack it came in:
"Warning! Always wear ANSI approved safety goggles when using this product. Before using this product, the user should read the operating instructions to understand everything about this product. Always wear appropriate clothing and safety equipment when operating this product. Wash hands thoroughly after the use and handling of this product."
Goggles, operating instructions, safety equipment, hand washing -- who would have guessed that a flashlight could be so dangerous and so much trouble?
Customer Review: Great Price and Long Lasting Summary: 5 Stars
I come from a family that camps, hikes, boats, etc. In any given room of my parents house you will find between 4-5 flashlights. These little flashlights are great! I bought a 3 pack of them for about 2-3 years now and they are still going strong. They have been in the bottom of rivers and pools, dropped down stairs, etc and still work amazing. I live in Chicago now and they work amazingly at filling a room with light when the power goes down.
As far as the fading and flickering, there is an easy solution, take out the battery pack and use a pair of tweezers to pull up on the spring at the bottom, it makes a tighter connection and since doing so, I have never had any more problems.
Customer Review: Geoff is right Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for basic LED backup flashlights (car, headboard, toolbench, ...) and found this. geoffbeneze's review caught my eye. Bought one (arrived this week) and I decided to do the mod on the positive contact. Used a padded socket wrench socket that just fit the barrel and a rubber mallet to drive the circuit board with LEDs and reflector out the front. Soldered a small coil of copper wire on the contact button. Back in business. I did have to file off some excess solder to get down to the copper, but that took about a minute. I expect it to go for a long time with no electrical contact issues, and it's a nice little lite. Buying a few more as I type this.
Customer Review: You may as well go throw $5 in your trash can right now Summary: 1 Stars
You may as well go throw $5 in your trash can right now - and at least save yourself the frustration of finding out for yourself that this flashlight is a total waste of time and money. I have purchased at least three of these from Amazon for kid's birthday's etc. They all have the same problem - they are completely unreliable. I have tried every 'fix' suggested by other users to no avail. If you want a flashlight that goes off and on (mostly off) when you really need it to be available, then this is your flashlight. Otherwise there are better flashlights to be found for under $10. Try the RAYOVAC models - they have been very reliable for the kids.
Customer Review: Crazy value Summary: 5 Stars
I've paid a lot more for a lot less when it comes to LED flashlights.
This one is the brightest I've ever owned. You can walk around your yard with it. Plenty of light.
Small enough to be kept in a bag, in the car... I keep one with my remotes in the living room.
It feels solid in your hand, not cheap. I've only had it for a few weeks, and couldn't be happier with it.
The issue with having to smack the LED flashlight in your hand is one I have run into with other LED flashlights, seems like a common problem with them. Mine (I bought a bunch of these little guys) are all working as they should.
