Customer Review: Great Product-my new little helper
Summary: 5 Stars

Very happy with this product. I had some issues at first because a small part was broken but I found a replacement part at another site and Amazon was extremely friendly about paying for that replacement part, so all is well.
This I use to vacuum the kitchen almost every day while I make the beds, do the wash or whatever. There always seems to be crumbs on the floor after meals no matter what I tell my kids and this thing is better at cleaning up all the crumbs than our hungry dog.
Does a beautiful job on rugs, especially the rug in our large closet and in my daughter's closet which are not the most fun places to be wielding a full-sized vacuum cleaner. The first time I used it under the beds I almost died of embarrasment at all the dog hair it sucked up. I do vacuum under the beds, I promise! But this thing does it better. It's cute, it sings little songs when it's done and it cracks me up how it has to go back to its 'mothership' for some 'energy drink'(the red light goes on and off, makes it look like the Roomba is gulping) after a couple of hours. Really glad I made the investment and I got a great price since it apparently was returned to Amazon for not functioning properly and while it was was reworked they added an even more sophisticated energy preserving system than the original one had.

Customer Review: Factory-reconditioned, yet still broken
Summary: 1 Stars

I guess they don't test the robots after they repair them. I jumped on a great price to get a Roomba Discovery for cheap, so I bought the refurb. It was a mistake. The robot would only charge itself for 5 mins and then stop. It would run for about 30 secs before dying. When put back on the charger, it would charge another 5 mins.

I talked to iRobot support and they were very nice. They had me reset the battery (push power for 30 secs with the battery out and reset). It still only charged for 5 mins, but they told me to leave it on the charger for 72 hours. After this attempt, it ran for about 2 minutes and died.

I called them back and they agreed to repair it, but they wanted me to ship it to them AT MY COST and it would take four weeks for them to get it back to me. They would not cross-ship a replacement no matter how much I asked.

So I just returned it to Amazon (who gladly paid for the return shipping).

This isn't a slam on the Roomba, I ended up buying a new Scheduler model and absolutely love it. It IS a slam on iRobot refurbished products though. How they can "fix" something and not test it is beyond me.

Just buy a new one...unless you want to roll the dice and are ok waiting 4 weeks for them to try and fix it again.

Customer Review: Just Got Mine - Great Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I was nervous about buying a remanufactured one, since some people said their Roomba arrived dirty. Mine arrived yesterday and was like new - not a speck of dirt in him and not a scratch on him. I charged him for the required 3 hours, pushed "CLEAN" and off he went! He sought out dirt and cleaned better then I could. It was fun watching him zoom under the couch and disappear. He stayed under for about a minute and did his thing.

The noise isn't bad. It's not as loud as an upright vacuum, but I wouldn't recommend trying to watch TV while he works. If you have small dogs they will bark at him for about 5 minutes, then get use to him. After a while mine laid on the floor and watched him work.

You need to empty the bin after each use; make sure you are over a garbage. I held him wrong and spilled the dirt on the floor. No problem, I just set Roomba to "SPOT" and he cleaned it. You may also need to clean the brushes more frequently if you have long hair (like I do). Long hair will tangle in his several brushes.

I was lucky and got mine through Amazon at a special sale price, so I only paid $134.00. I would recommend him at a higher price. I doubt I would pay $300, but he's worth it at the usual remanufactured price.

Customer Review: No more dog hair!
Summary: 4 Stars

We have a dog who sheds the equivalent of a whole other dog every week. He's a terrific dog, but the dog hair never stopped, and it seemed like we couldn't groom, sweep and vaccum enough.

Enter Roomba.

I ordered the reconditioned one, which looked brand new and seemed to have some sort of upgraded battery. I charged up the Roomba and set it to work. The first pass of the house took a few hours. The Roomba got clogged a few times on dog hair that collected under the chairs, beds, and other hard to reach places. I opened it up, cleaned it out, and set it back to work. This little thing is relentless, and it got 98% of the hair out of our lives - and it also got rid of the dust bunnies under the beds.

The first pass was certainly the toughest, and now that the house is dog hair free, all we have to do is run it every few days. It does need to be cleaned about once a week, but the brushes are easy to remove and replace.

I gave it four stars because it's still not "perfect." It will still get stuck on obstacles in the house, I think it clogs too easily, and it doesn't seem to be able to find it's home base, but that's nitpicking. Overall, this is great little invention.

Customer Review: Convenient
Summary: 3 Stars

It's pretty much as advertised. I haven't made use of all the features. I just put it down and let it go. It would be nice if it came with more of the "force fields." Two isn't really enough to keep it exactly where you want it, even in a small 1940s one-bedroom apartment. Imagine if you live in a 21st century mcmansion!
You needn't worry about whether it can make the transitions from carpet to wood floor, or over your thresholds between rooms - it can. Also, it is very good at getting itself unstuck.
Quite good at cleaning carpets, but not as good as a regular upright or canister vacuum cleaner. Definitely good enough for your weekly maintenance.
You can even leave it going and leave the house. It will stop when it thinks it's done or when the power runs out.
I haven't noticed it find itself voluntarily back to the home base.
Remote control is silly. Why would you use a remote control?
Four year old loves to run away from it, play with force fields, etc.
What else?
If you're thinking about it, go ahead, you won't regret it.
Three stars because it's a freaking robot vacuum cleaner. Why would you give it five stars? Now a MacBook Pro? THATS five stars.
