Tools and Hardware Reviews of iRobot 12501 Looj 125 Remote Controlled Cordless Electric Gutter Cleaning Robot With Belt ClipCustomer Review: Needs a better battery-can flip over Summary: 3 Stars
First let me say that the iRobot is a great tool that saves you time and effort. I got the one with only one battery, so if you have quite a bit of gutter length I recommend you get at least two batteries. Also...not having a charge light indicator seems strange to me. Overall, it's a nice tool that needs a couple tweaks to really be a great tool. Mine also kept cutting out/stalling when I was using it even after a full charge. It also could use a little more range with the remote. Mine stopped working at around 25 feet. Other remote cars, etc seem to have better range...I would think they could design this to have more than 25 ft range. Some of my gutter lengths are right at 30 ft.
Again...it really helped me on the very tall sections of my house....nice job iRobot. Just make those changes and you'll have a better tool.
Customer Review: Does just what it's supposed to Summary: 4 Stars
We got a Looj a month ago and have used it 3 times. That's 3 trips up and down a ladder instead of the 24 or so trips I would have made cleaning the gutters the old way. The thing works, period.
I read some reviews where people mentioned the Looj tipping over or not working very well. I just think you have to have reasonable expectations. It's not a 35-pound powerhouse. It's plastic and light. You'll want to keep your eye on it when you're running it and you'll need to run it back-and-forth a few times if the leaves are wet and/or plentiful. Just read and follow the directions and pay attention and it'll be fine.
Someone else wrote this and it is true ... the Looj won't save you much time but in using it I haven't had to move the ladder once. Well worth the price!
Customer Review: Stay away from the Looj, you'll save time, money, and frustration Summary: 1 Stars
My sister is happy with her Roomba, so even though many of the reviews urged caution, I decided to take a chance on the Looj -- that was a big mistake. It could not get through really mucked up areas and it constantly kept flipping over and getting stuck. I spent WAY more time trying to hassle with the Looj than if I had just cleaned my gutters the old fashioned way. Also, on my unit, reverse stopped working. It will drive forward just fine, but it won't go in reverse. If you are on the fence about buying this beware that even the positive reviews are full of tons of caveats. Bottom line: stay away from the Looj and save your money.
Customer Review: Great for hard to reach gutters Summary: 4 Stars
I was very skeptical when I first read about this product, but on the basis of an article in Handyman Magazine I ordered it. My gutters were very full of decomposing leaves and the irobot did what it said. Granted that I had to take several passes to get everything out of the gutters, but in the future I plan on regularly cleaning my gutters and it should be a snap.My only complaint is that the process is messier than the description leads you believe it will be. Wear protective goggles and old clothes,
Customer Review: 500 rpm Summary: 5 Stars
1. Looj is a remote controlled gutter cleaner. The remote control is detachable from the device. You can buy an accessory for putting the Looj on your hip. The Looj moves forward and backward.
2. You set the robot into the gutter and active the rotator which propels debris and sludge, out of the gutter. The rotator turns at 500 rpm.
3. Look has a three stage auger
4. iRobot can clean a 60 foot section in 10 minutes
