Tools and Hardware Reviews of iRobot Advanced Power System Ni-MH Battery, 3000 mAh, 17373

Customer Review: better than new
Summary: 5 Stars

I use my roomba every day, so I was not surprised my original battery gave out at about a year. This replacement gave my roomba discovery vac new life. It runs for about an hour and a half, not bad since it spends about a quarter of the time on carpet, which drains it faster. it also charges a lot quicker than the original. I'm very happy with the price and the battery arrived only a couple of days after I placed the order.
There are many choices for replacements online, which made it confusing for me to chose, but I think I got a great deal with this battery I have also read complaints from reviewers that roomba batteries don't last for years, but I feel I got my money's worth, since I used the roomba daily for a year. If I have to pay $35 a year for the convenience of having a roomba clean under my furniture, I'm willing!

Customer Review: Doesn't work (at least not with the scheduler)
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this battery to replace my other one because even though I had tried to reset it my Roomba would only run for about five minutes before returning to dock. I plugged this battery into my Roomba, let it charge for the requisite 16 hours, and then reprogrammed the scheduler. Unfortunately, when the Roomba came off the dock and began to run, it again only ran for five minutes before running out of power. So now that this supposedly new battery doesn't work I am at a loss to explain what I have to fix. I did bypass the dock and plugged the Roomba into the charger directly, but I haven't run it several times having done that to see if the problem is with the charging prongs on the dock or not. I would definitely recommend that anyone that buys this battery beware.

Customer Review: terrible product - stay away
Summary: 1 Stars

I ordered this battery and it arrived quickly. It worked one week or eight days (I use Roomba every day ;) and after that Roomba would not charge it. I kept the old battery and tried charging that - Roomba was charging the old battery. After several days of trying to figure out what happened I contacted the seller and they sent out a new replacement battery in response. When it came, it worked one day - and the same story, Roomba refused to charge it. Filed a claim and Amazon refunded my money (thanks Amazon!). Unsure what to say - the seller seems to be good and responsive, but the product is a failure. Now I have two useless batteries - Roomba would not charge them and one old battery that does not hold the charge. What a story!

Customer Review: Roomba Battery is worthless, It only last about a year or more
Summary: 1 Stars

The battery is horriable on the Roomba. I have a hard time believing that they can't fix this problem. I bought my Roomba at Hammacher. I wish that everybody that is looking at this message bought their's at Hammacher. Hammacher has a life time guarantee. Everytime my battery goes dead, I send my Roomba back to Hammacher and get a new Roomba. In the past 4 or 5 years, I have send four Roomba back and had them replaced. I've actually upgraded my Roomba everytime to the last and greatest Roomba that they have. I currently own the Roomba Scheduler. And despite the problems with the battery,I love my Roomba, but do hate the battery. It beginning to appear that my battery is dead again, time for another Roomba upgrade.

Customer Review: Works as expected
Summary: 5 Stars

After leaving my Roomba unplugged and unused for more than 3 months, my battery died and no attempts to revive it worked. I was left with only one choice--buy a new battery! I considered cheaper alternatives (there are some do-it-yourself kits on the web where you replace only the inside of the battery) but in the end I decided to just buy a whole new battery. Well, my Roomba is back to its old self, it roams around the house and vacuums as good as new. I've had the battery for about a month and it's working just fine.

Word of advice to every Roomba owner--never leave your Roomba unplugged for too long or your battery will die! It seems that the more you use the battery (and your Roomba) the longer it lasts!
