Customer Review: Roomba junkyard!

It's just like a page out of Sanford and Son; we've got Roomba and Scooba parts all over the place. It's a veritable iRobot junkyard!
The hobbyists at iRobot apparently do not have the time or interest to support test and maintenance, they're too busy designing the next generation of highly vulnerable little thinking machines to worry about the bugs they've left behind.
Maybe a good book on mechanotechnology would help, or maybe it's already too late. I am told that some new 'backers' entered the ball-game when it appeared that iRobot was on the ropes. A little fresh money produced the newest model but that too is falling apart. The people who second source the Roomba batteries are now starting to second source the Roombas themselves.
It is a pity, but I suspect that iRobot will soon be no more.

Overall I am satisfied with my I-Roomba, everytime I open the dirt container to empty it I am shocked by how much stuff it has picked up. It keeps me from having to clean the floor myself everyday - I have two dogs that track everything into my house from the yard. The one thing to watch out for if you have laminate or wood floors is if there are large pieces of sand or gravel on the floor - you should swiffer those up before letting the roomba loose. I have a few small scratch marks in the floor because a piece of gravel got caught under the front swivel wheel and kept it from rolling and so it just pushed the gravel around the floor leaving scratches behind. Also, mine never seems to find its home base so I end up carrying it back there to get re-charged.Customer Review: Fun and functional!

For $164, this upgraded version is a very good value at just $15 more than the base model Rommba Red. This was a gift, and the recipient is very happy. She worked Roomba very hard the first couple weeks, and so far so good. Everything works as described, and the ability to self-charge has been nice for her. The volume of debris Roomba can handle and hold is more than you would think. It's nice to be able to work in one room and hear Roomba working in the other. Better for households that do not have a lot of furniture and toys and junk all over the floor all the time, for constant light cleaning. We recommend Roomba, but keep up on the maintenance, which can be high compared to a regular vaccuum.Customer Review: I am amazed how much dirt Rosie Roomba picks up!

I named her Rosie after the robot maid on The Jetsons! I amazed how much dirt and cat hair she picks up each time I run her. She doesn't replace my regular vacuum but she is great for maintaining clean floors. We have berber carpet and tile and she adjusts from one to the other just fine. I run her every other evening on the floors downstairs and it really helps as we have a toddler and a cat. I do make sure I clean out the filter and bin every time I run her. It is so nice as I feel like I am multi-tasking as I can do other things like dust or clean the kitchen while she is going. Also, she is much quieter than my regular vacuum and doesn't wake up the toddler during naptime.Customer Review: FOR ANYONE WITH ARTHRITIS!

This little helper deserves a five-star rating but I only gave it a four because I need to clean it after every use! The cleaning enables it to perform at its peak! I have linoleum and indoor/outdoor carpeting throughout the house which helps it run more efficiently! I have Rheumatoid Arthritis which makes vacuuming (especially underneath furniture) very painful and most times impossible! Running my little iRobot Roomba every day enables me to vacuum less often (especially with 3 dogs inside)! Also, it's a blessing to have when unexpected company will be coming! The remote control feature is great! Now all I have to do is teach it to wash dishes...and make the bed....LOL!
