I had a roomba and loved it. It got old and needed to be replaced. I got the new one and it quit working within 2 months. Upon contacting Irobot I sent it back in order to get a replacement. Replacement had no battery (I guess I was supposed to keep the old one). Upon contacting the company again, I was told,
"We apologize for the inconvenience. However any parts or accessories sent to us are not retrievable, you will have to purchase a new battery."
Yeah, thanks. I'd rather buy a robot from another company. You have my battery and I now have a robot that can't do anything because it has no power.

I've had my Roomba for almost two years. It is the best thing! It is so thorough and picks up things you wouldn't think it could. We have two large Dobermans and they leave hair where they lay. Roomba cleans it up with ease and looks for more. I had to have major back surgery almost a year ago and Roomba really saved me. It kept the house looking pretty darned good until I could do the deep cleaning again by myself. I highly recommend this product to anyone with back problems-it sure helps alot.
I did have to replace a battery a few months ago, but Roomba continues to do a great job.

I was skeptical at first, but with rave reviews from friends who have a Roomba, I went ahead and took advantage of this great deal from Amazon. Let me say I LOVE THIS ROOMBA!!!! We have tile throughout the house, and a relatively clean dog (or so I thought, lol). This roomba is EXCELLENT for picking up dog hair. I was SHOCKED at the dust/hair I was missing with everyday sweeping. The tile looks amazing after running the Roomba. I probably would not spend $300 for one at Bed Bath & Beyond (because I am a tightwad), but this was a great deal from Amazon, and totally worth it ($169).Customer Review: Better than Expected

A friend highly recommended this item and I, a bit skeptic, thought it would be helpful, but probably not as good as my friend said it was. However I am very impressed with how good a job the Discovery does in a household of multiple pets which includes a daily chore of vacuuming up dog hair and bird seed. Bird seed can be a difficult job for any vacuum, but this one is doing an excellent job of keeping our home much cleaner. Now while I'm feeding the pets, Romba's Discovery is cleaning up after the pets. We make a good team!
Customer Review: Fair Engineering, Very Poor Manufacturing

This model is sort of smart so kudos to the guys at MIT. However, there are consequences to contracting out the manufacturing process to a cut rate Chinese firm. I'm waiting for my third replacement unit as I write this. The brush motor burned out in my original 4220 in about 9 months and the 4221 replacement only lasted 2.5 months. I'm now out of warranty and figure I have three months of life left in this $300 purchase.
Really, selling a plastic toy with no possibility of repair is just criminal. Shame on IRobot...shame.
