Tools and Hardware Reviews of iTouchless Fully Automatic Stainless Steel Touchless Trashcan SX, 13 Gallon (52 Liter)

Customer Review: Oddly Entertaining, Yet Functional
Summary: 4 Stars

I like this garbage can, and that's something I never thought I'd say. Who "likes" their garbage can?

It looks decent, and they thoughtfully give you the option of using either batteries or an AC adapter. Friends also find it somewhat entertaining, although my friends are probably easily amused.

It's a little noisy, and the inside edge of the plastic on the top of the can does tend to snag the bags when you remove them. But on the plus side, it stays really clean because you don't have to touch the lid to open it. It's also convenient because you don't have to walk over to it to step on a pedal. Mine is at the end of the counter so I can just sort of hover over the can with garbage in my hand, the lid opens, and I drop it in.

I'd definitely buy this again.

Customer Review: Not all it promises to be...
Summary: 3 Stars

Overall, I'm happy with it because in its most basic way, it works. My complaints are:

1. The sensor doesn't work as it the instructions state. You have to hover about 1 inch or lower in order for the sensor to tip and the cover to open. It's supposed to be about 6 inches.

2. It's LOUD! Both when it opens and closes.

3. There is a plastic lip along the inside top of the can. This causes any item in the way to tear the bag! Luckily I only have to empty once a week, but when I do, it's entirely too much effort just to get the bag out of the can.

That's about it! Would I recommend it? I think you can do better. When I bought it it was crazy cheap and free shipping, so I couldn't pass it up. I would never buy one for over $60 though.

Customer Review: iTouchless is a piece of garbage
Summary: 1 Stars

After 11 1/2 months, the garbage can lid closed off-center, causing the hinge to break and become inoperable. I activated the 1 year warranty, paid $20 for s&h, and received a new lid. After NOT EVEN 3 MONTHS of limited use, the same exact problem recurred. This is a design flaw. I contacted iTouchless to request a warranty replacement, and was told that the warranty applied only to the original purchase and NOT to the replacement. Efforts to contact a supervisor were fruitless, so I intend to contact the California State Atty General-Consumer Complaints Division to file a complaint. I would not recommend this piece of garbage lid or piece of garbage company to anyone.

Customer Review: try another style
Summary: 1 Stars

I have been a touchless garbage can devotee for a few years. I ordered this one because I like the lid that would slide instead of fly up to open. So far I have not had lid problems like other reviewers BUT just try to get the bag out of it when it's full - ha! You need one person to hold the can and another to try to wrestle out the bag because it does not come out easily. The can seems to be smaller on the top than on the bottom or maybe it's because of the plastic rim inside at the top - regardless of why - it is a super pain to get the bag out! I wish I could do the video option and show you - but please take my word for it and shop for another model!

Customer Review: Boycott until they stop putting on the sticker! LOL
Summary: 4 Stars

This can is awesome and fits right next to my trash compactor perfectly. You will run all over the house trying to find stuff to put inside once you get it up and running. HOWEVER, you will spend a significant amount of your life trying to remove the stupid sticker from the front. I spent a brillo pad, half a bottle of orange dissolver sticker remover, a Mr. Clean eraser, two sample charge cards and half a packet of windex wipes. Oh yeah, and I sacrificed a really nice manicure and it's STILL not completely off. And I am no price tag removing amateur! So save those sample change cards - you are going to need them to make this item presentable! :)
