This trash can is perfect in every way. It is slimline so takes up a smaller area. You step on the pedal and the top opens ALL the way. It also never falls off. I have had this problem with similar trash cans. Simple Human sells trash bags for this can but they aren't necessary. You can use regular 13 gallon bags. If you need to lock your can it's simple to do and it works. I bought one of these for kitchen garbage. I liked it so well I bought two more for recycling. I like this item due to it's simplicity, well thought out design and it's dimensions.Customer Review: great product!

I bought this to replace a stainless steel Simplehuman can I already had. After weeks of my one year old opening and closing our old can, I decided to look for one with a lock. I love the new one we replaced it with! Not only does it have a very useful easy to use lock, but I also like the shape of this one. I was concerned with this one being plastic, because I thought my toddler would move it around easily when it was empty. But, I've never had this problem. I ordered a Simplehuman step trash can to replace one that had broken. The size is perfect, and has a hydrolic lift that keeps the lid from slamming shut when it closes which is really unique. The product was shipped rapidly after I ordered it. It is a great trash can and priced very, very reasonably for this great product.

I was looking at buying a stainless steel garbage can to match the rest of my kitchen, but heard great things about this garbage can. I thought, it's only $40 (purchased from Crate and Barrel) so why not, I'll try it. I LOVE IT. It blends into my cherry wood and black kitchen perfectly (I bought the black can). You can lock the garbage can if you need to. It is easy to put a new bag in, the top doesn't come off. Well built, nice look, love how can closes slowly. I have found this model to be an economical, highly functional waste can, true to the product description. Though it is far less expensive than a metal can, it has the advantage of being very easy to keep clean - one can simply wipe it, inside or out, without the smearing and rust that can arise with the metal products. It fits snugly into a small kitchen, and the foot pedal and automatic, quiet closing are a pleasure. I found it to be an excellent value for the price.
