Tools and Hardware Reviews of simplehuman Wall Mount Grocery Bag Holder, Brushed Stainless Steel

Customer Review: Sleek, Sylish and Very Easy to Install
Summary: 5 Stars

I have 3 of these and have used them for almost 5 years. They are a nice contemporary design and hold quite a few bags, which go into the holder nicely. Installation was very easy. I used both the screw and adhesive strips and my holders are as sturdy 5 years later as they were when I put them up. My family, including a very athletic teen boy, stuff these holders to capacity and put a lot of pressure on them when doing so and they are absolutely steadfast! I owned the white plastic ones before and was not nearly as pleased. With a simple, stainless steel and black design, these tend to go well with almost any decor! They also fit very well in my pantry's side wall because they are sleek and do not protrude out much at all...however as mentioned above, they still are able to hold quite a few bags! I have another one in my master bedroom closet, which adjoins the master bathroom, to hold refill bags for my bathroom's trash can. The 3rd one is on a garage wall above where I keep my kitty litter box, which I find is a great way to store bags for removing litter clumps in a simple way! I use a hercules hook to hang the bag that is being used for litter waste until there is enough waste to move to my outdoor trash can. So aside from being nice-looking, you can place these boogers almost anywhere you might need a plastic bag!

Customer Review: Great item
Summary: 5 Stars

I truly like the suggestion from one reviewer, who says his wife instead uses old tissue boxes to hold their clutter of plastic bags. This item is almost exactly that, but a bit more elegant for the kitchen, and with more room for the bags as well as a convenient stuffing hole at the top. I also agree that it is a bit pricey for what it is, but admit that for it's look, construction, and functionality I would expect to pay exactly the $10 that it costs (it is pricier in stores and other websites than at Amazon.com). For the reviewers who's only complaint is that it is impossible to pull just one bag from this dispenser, I suggest the ritual I learned from my father (an engineer - the man has a practical ritual for everything). First, check the plastic bag for holes - no use keeping one that has holes, as they're easily recyclable at any grocery store. Then take the bag in one hand at the bottom of the bag and grip it in your fist. Wrap the bag around your fist like an ace bandage, letting any air out of the top as you wrap. Voila, the bag is not a wadded mess, but rather neatly wadded like, say, a sock. Stuff each bag in the hole this way, and they will easily pull out without tangling with other contained bags.

Customer Review: The most useless holder known to man
Summary: 1 Stars

There are two primary problems to this device. The first was putting bags into it. The second was getting bags out of it. The third was how many time it fell off the cabinet door. The fourth was how many times it fell out of the cupboard and landed on my toes after I gave up attaching it back to the door. You can think of these as two problems or four. Using it and storing it are the primary problems.

Almost every single time I tried to put bags in the top of the thing, they jammed. Same with putting them in the side vent. My hands are very small so while I could struggle with getting them out (while scratching my hands), my husband couldn't reach in it at all. When I took bags out they invariably tore. I kept the device only because it worked every blue moon and that still improved on the loose bags under the sink.

The connection? Worthless. It fell off the inside of the cupboard door, constantly. When I finally gave up and just put it under the sink, it fell out on my toes -- exactly one too many times. And THAT was how it ended up in the trash can.

Customer Review: Hate clutter?
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this for several reasons
(1) I wanted to get something to sort the unruly bag mess - I used to fold the bags and put them into a bin - husband on the other hand didn't think that was a good use of time
(2) he wanted something that "matched" every other appliance in the home - I didn't care because it was going inside the cabinet door
(3) I wanted to get my mess in order and have something that the hubby would use

It's not going to change your life.
It will give all those plastic bags a home

DOs
use the screw and screw it into your door - the tape/adhesive mounts are worthless. SO make sure that you DO want to screw this into a door - if not, move onto another product that has hooks that hangs on the door

DON'Ts
overstuff every single bag into this thing. When it's super overflowing full, it gets to be a little battle to pull the bags out

I do wish it was flatter and wider so it doesn't take up 'space' in the cabinet. It's about a size of kleenex box (200ct).

Customer Review: Absolutely perfect
Summary: 5 Stars

With this simple holder you'll never be stuck whenever you need a grocery bag to hand quickly. In the past I used a cardboard box to hold extra plastic bags on our mud room floor which took up much needed space and looked messy. So after shopping around I settled on the simplehuman holder because of the design and the nice brushed steel case.

Upon arrival I had the holder up on the wall in minutes, choosing to use dry wall anchors and screws (supplied) as well as utilizing the sticky back - so it's absolutely locked tight onto the dry wall. I took the advice from another reviewer as to how it should be filled effectively and took the air out of each grocery bag then wrapped it around my hand to make a coil. Then I simply shoved them all into the top. Not once has more than one bag come out when pulled on and it holds around 50 bags with ease.

Great, attractive solution that's easy to mount and should fit anywhere in your kitchen or mud room.
